Music Typography
Every day, background noises that surround the world go unnoticed. These noises could be considered the music of the world's varying environments. I created an interactive typographic installation as a way of visually add music to the different environments. The installation also amplified the different environments' sounds through a microphone and amplifier that was attached to the installation.
Personal Project

The Concept

I was constantly looking at objects and environments, and hearing the sounds that surrounded them. No object or environment visually shows the musical noises that surrounds them, and I wanted to create a way to show the "music" of an environment. After hours of brainstorming words and installation concepts that could bring the visual side of environmental sounds to life, I began construction. The installation was built by hand. Two pieces of plywood, 2X4's, musical equipment, black paint, PVC pipe and screws were used within the build.
The Installation & Photographs

The installation was placed in several environments, where the sound of the environment was amplified around it. Photographs of the installation were taken, and given a duotone color treatment to portray the different beats of the environments in which they were placed.
